Israel’s army said on Monday its ground operations in the Gaza Strip were continuing and that its forces killed three additional company commanders of the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

“[Israeli army] troops continue to operate in the Gaza Strip, directing aircraft to strike terrorists, terrorist infrastructure, and locating weapons and military equipment. IDF fighter jets, directed by IDF and ISA intelligence, killed three additional Hamas company commanders,” the Israeli military said in a statement.

It added: “Troops identified a terrorist cell as they entered a nearby building. As a result of the strike carried out by an IDF aircraft, the terrorists were killed and a weapons depot in which they hid was struck.”

Hamas did not immediately respond to the Israeli army’s claims.

A day earlier, the Israeli army said it found evidence that proved that Al-Shifa hospital was used as “terrorist infrastructure” by Hamas where it took hostages.

“In the documentation exposed with the assistance of the ISA, Hamas terrorists can be seen on Saturday, October 7th, forcibly transporting hostages, a Nepalese civilian and a Thai civilian, who were kidnapped from Israeli territory. IDF vehicles stolen during the murderous massacre can also be seen inside the Shifa Hospital area,” the Israeli military said in a statement.

It added: “These findings prove that the Hamas terrorist organization used the Al-Shifa Hospital complex on the day of the massacre as terrorist infrastructure. These findings add to previous evidence presented regarding Hamas’ use of the hospital area as infrastructure for its terrorist activities in a systematic and ongoing manner.”

On the other side, the Palestinian authorities said that the Israeli aggression on Gaza killed 12.415 people and injured around 32,500 others, according to the Palestinian ministry of health.

United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said on Sunday: “The killing of so many people at schools turned shelters, hundreds fleeing for their lives from Al-Shifa Hospital amid continuing displacement of hundreds of thousands in southern Gaza are actions which fly in the face of the basic protections civilians must be afforded under international law.”

The UN said Israeli military operations have been continuing inside and around Al-Shifa Hospital, with UN staff describing it as a “death zone”.

“Further missions are being planned to urgently transport remaining patients and health staff out of Al-Shifa Hospital,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said.
