Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said he would not be able to attend the G7 summit, this week due to the Hajj season, which is slated to begin on Friday.

A statement from the Saudi government said that MBS sent an apology to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for not being able to go due to “commitments related to supervising pilgrimage.” Hajj is set to start on June 14, drawing over 1 million visitors who are expected to make the pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia’s Mecca.
