Thermal camera footage released of Boston Marathon bombing suspect

Massachusetts State Police released thermal footage showing the moments leading up to the capture of the 19-year-old Boston marathon bombing suspect who was arrested late Friday.

A police helicopter thermal imaging camera was used to film Chechen suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in the boat which showed the suspect as he was attempting to pull back the tarp covering to hide from police before he set off two bombs in what seemed to be a suicide attempt.

The suspect was discovered and reported by the boat owner who saw blood on the cruiser.

Police captured Tsarnaev bloodied in the backyard boat after a wild car chase and gun battle that left his older brother dead and the Boston area sealed in an extraordinary dragnet.

The capture of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev - taken alive, though seriously wounded - lifted days of anxiety for Boston and Americans everywhere, but little was known about the motivation of the ethnic Chechen brothers.

U.S. President Barack Obama vowed investigators would solve that mystery.

“The families of those killed so senselessly deserve answers,” said Obama, who branded the suspects “terrorists.”

Tsarnaev was hospitalized in serious condition, unable to be questioned about his motives.
