Italian navy regains control of seized fishing boat
The fishing boat was previously seized by armed men off the coast of Libya
The Italian navy says it has boarded and taken control of the Sicilian fishing boat that had been seized by armed men off the coast of Libya.
The navy said in a statement Friday that military personnel operating in the area on migrant rescue duty responded to reports that the fishing vessel had been taken. The statement did not give further details on the condition of the seven crew members or if the Italian military encountered the armed men.
The navy said the fishing boat had been seized around 90 kilometers (50 nautical miles) northwest of the Libyan port of Misrata.
