US President Donald Trump has said everyone thinks he deserves a Nobel Prize but he would never say it.

He elaborated by saying that the prize he wants is “victory for the world”. Responding to a question on whether he deserves the Nobel Prize, Trump said: “Everyone thinks so, but I would never say it”. “The prize I want is victory for the world,” he said.

Growing calls

Ever since the President Trump initiated a move to broker peace in the Korean Peninsula several commentators have supported the idea.

In his column If Trump brokers peace in Korea, he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, Al Arabiya columnist Dr. Azeem Ibrahim wrote: “But if Trump manages to convince Comrade Kim to denuclearize and secures peace in the Korean peninsula, he will undoubtedly be more deserving than any recipient in living memory”.

It was also reported that 18 House Republicans formally nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to end the decades-long conflict between North and South Korea by attempting to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.
