The US-Turkish economic war has led to unforgiving retaliations from both ends. The US has already increased its sanctions against Turkey.
Trump is willing to ramp up sanctions further if Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, refuses to release US pastor, Andrew Brunson.
“Those who think that they can make Turkey take a step back with ridiculous sanctions have never known this country or this nation,” Erdogan said during his speech in Ankara. “We have never bowed our heads to such pressure and will never do so.”
Erdogan has remained combative towards Trump’s economic decisions, vowing to boycott US products such as the iPhone.
