Biden was speaking in Michigan during a campaign event, where he rebuked US President Donald Trump for lying to the American people about the coronavirus. “He knew, and purposefully played it down. Worse, he lied to the American people,” Biden said during his visit to the battleground state.

Michigan is home to the US auto industry, where Biden was promoting a new proposal to tax companies that move US jobs overseas.

A recent USA Today poll, conducted with Suffolk University, said 44 percent of voters think Trump will win the presidency after the votes are counted in November, against 41 percent favoring Biden. However, 62 percent of the voters surveyed said the country was currently on the wrong track under Trump's presidency. Those who believed the country was on the right path accounted for 29 percent.
