Russia destroys 22 Ukrainian drones, intercepts 13 more over Azov Sea, Crimea

Russian air defense destroyed 22 drones launched by Ukraine in addition to the interception of 13 more over the Azov Sea and Crimea, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.

“An attempt of the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack with the use of UAVs in the night against facilities on the Russian territory was thwarted,” the ministry said as cited by state news agency TASS.

It added: “Air defense units on duty destroyed 22 Ukrainian UAVs and intercepted 13 more over the Sea of Azov and in the airspace over the Republic of Crimea.”

The ministry stated that 6 Ukrainian UAVs over the Sea of Azov were detected at 3:00 a.m. GMT and said that “four of them were destroyed and two more intercepted.”

On the other hand, Ukraine reported that several fires have broken out across the Kharkiv region following Russian drone attacks on civil infrastructure, according to state news agency Ukrinform.

“The occupiers are launching Shahed drone attacks. Targeting the Izium and Chuhuiv districts. Some civil infrastructure objects were hit. Several fires broke out. No casualties have been reported so far,” said Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Syniehubov.
