ISIS warns professors who left their jobs to return
The militant group says professors who fail to return to their jobs will risk having their properties confiscated
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has issued a warning to teachers and doctors who fled to seek work in areas outside the control of the militant group to return to their jobs within 10 days.
A statement issued by the "Court of the Judiciary and Grievances" said ISIS authorities would seize the properties of anyone failing to return to work within that period.
The exodus of teachers and medical professionals from areas that fell under the control of ISIS has led many students to travel to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, and to other provinces to continue their studies.
“Professors in all medical disciplines and others whose work and residence is in the state of the Islamic caliphate must return within 10 days from the publication of this statement, otherwise their movable and immovable properties will be seized and they will be considered as supporters of the infidels,” the ISIS statement said.
The Iraqi Higher Education Ministry agreed to transfer university professors and employees in areas controlled by ISIS to other institutions in the province under its control.
