UAE President offers condolences over Kenya deaths
In a cable to President Uhuru Kenyatta, Sheikh Khalifa called the attack on the Garissa University College ‘cowardly criminal’
President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nayhan sent his condolences on Friday to his Kenyan counterpart after an attack on a university in the east African country killed 147 people, official WAM news agency reported.
Al Shabaab gunmen stormed the Garissa University College campus on Thursday and at first started shooting randomly but later freed some Muslims as they began targeting Christian students.
In a cable to President Uhuru Kenyatta, Sheikh Khalifa called the attack on the Garissa University College a “cowardly criminal” act adding that the government and people of the UAE stand in solidarity with Kenya.
Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum along with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, sent two wires expressing similar messages, WAM reported.
