Your wedding dress is the most memorable item of clothing you could ever purchase. In the ever-growing world of bridal couture there are so many different choices, styles, and price tags to choose from, that can make your decision process slightly more confusing than you had hoped for. That being said it shouldn’t be too complicated to find the right gown, it’s out there somewhere just waiting for you. Here are a few signs to look out for when dress shopping, to make sure that you say ‘Yes’ to the perfect dress.

It is all about the silhouette

The style and silhouette of your gown should ideally match your wedding day theme, venue, and season. Keep that in mind when browsing for dresses, for example a full on princess ball gown would clash with an intimate beach wedding. Before hitting the shops, determine your wedding theme even if your venue is undecided yet. It’s always best to narrow down your options in terms of cut and design, you are going to love a thousand dresses, but there will only be one perfect fit for you.

When you try on the dress, you’re going to feel like pieces of the puzzle have finally fell into place, and you will begin to envision your perfect day with you wearing that dress.

It’s just you

When a bride goes shopping for her wedding dress she is usually accompanied by her bridesmaids and close family members for support. Sometimes you will find that the bridal support team can influence her choices, and decisions. Everyone is entitled to have an opinion, but in the end of the day you need to feel comfortable and love the dress you are in. Be sure that the dress you choose is the one you would go for if you were shopping alone. Having the urge to be constantly assured that you look good in the dress is most likely a sign that you need to keep shopping.

All the right reasons

The dress has to tick all your boxes, and by all I literary mean all. You have to be sure that you are buying it for the right reasons. As a recent bride myself. I can assure you that the sensation of truly loving your dress will only come from within, the feeling that you don’t want to take it off, or walk out the store without it is what you are looking for. So unless you have that feeling, then don’t buy the dress. Feeling rushed or forced into deciding will never truly please you, even if it means that you have to visit the shop 10 times before making a decision then do it, and don’t be shy.

You feel comfortable wearing it

Remember you are not a statue, you have to be comfortable in your gown so that you can eat, dance, and even sit down while wearing it. The biggest bridal mistake would be to purchase an uncomfortable dress, because trust me not only will your guests notice, but your body language and face will begin to show signs of discomfort on your wedding day. Think of it this way, you will be wearing that dress for a minimum of 6 hours if not more.

You’ve shopped till you dropped

Wedding dresses have the tend to surprise you, although in your dream wedding you imagined yourself wearing a tight fitted gown, when you actually start shopping for your wedding dress you may find yourself leaning more towards something entirely different, which is totally normal and happens to more than 70% of brides. I encourage all brides to step outside their comfort zone when trying on wedding dresses, this doesn’t mean you have to purchase the dress, have a little fun. After all you never know what you’re missing until you try it.
