flydubai posts $627mln revenue in first half
During the period, the airline’s passenger numbers went up to 4.9 million, an increase of 16.5 per cent
Flydubai on Tuesday announced a 5.4 per cent rise in its half-year results for 2016 with total revenue of $627 million (Dh2,302 million), compared to the same period last year, according to UAE official news agency WAM.
A loss of $24.5 million (Dh89.9 million) was also reported which is 39 per cent lower than H1 of the previous year.
During the period, the airline’s passenger numbers went up to 4.9 million, an increase of 16.5 per cent.
Flydubai had also suffered a tragic loss when its flight FZ981 crashed in Russia on Saturday, March 19.
About the prospects for the Dubai-based airline during the second half of the year, Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, said, “we have started to receive the first deliveries of our order for 111 aircraft placed in 2013, with a total of 8 aircraft scheduled to join our fleet between May and December.”
“Supported by the new aircraft deliveries, we will expand our convenient services across our network,” Al Ghaith added.
