British chancellor of exchequer Hammond: UK strongly supports Saudi Vision 2030
In an exclusive interview with Al Arabiya News Channel, the British Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond spoke on the deep economic and trading ties between the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia and emphasized how Riyadh would play a role post-Brexit.
“The UK strongly supports Vision 2030 and we want to be a big part in delivering it. His Royal Highness the Crown Prince came to the UK earlier this year, and agreed to a strategic partnership with the UK and with the strategic partnership council which would meet every year with the Prime Minister of the UK and his Royal Highness to assess progress on that collaboration,” Hammond told Al Arabiya.
Earlier on Sunday, Hammond met with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and reviewed bilateral relations, especially in economic fields and ways of enhancing them according to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
“The relationship will get stronger after Brexit as Britain leaves the European Union, while we want to retain a close trading relationship with our European neighbors, we also want to build and strengthen our trade relationships and our investments partnerships with our tradition friends and allies around the world… and Saudi Arabia is an important friend and ally of the UK,” Hammond said.
