Thousands flock to GITEX Shopper 2016 on inaugural day

Eight-day technology shopping extravaganza in Dubai features unmatched prices, bundled offers, and prizes

The much anticipate annual technology event in the Middle east, GITEX Shopper 2016, opened in Dubai on Saturday, unveiling 35,000 of most latest consumer electronics products.

The show was officially inaugurated by Sami al-Qamzi, Director General, Department of Economic Development in Dubai.

The highlight of the Shopper, being held at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) from today until Saturday, October 8, the eight-day shopping extravaganza is the unmatched prices, bundled offers, and a range of prizes from top name brands and retailers, according to UAE’s official news agency WAM.

“We’re looking forward to an exceptional show this year,” Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General, Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and the Dubai World Trade Center Authority.

“Our exhibitors have put together an outstanding show, and visitors will have the best consumer electronics shopping week, both in terms of creative products and price packaged offers,” he added.

The inaugural day saw thousands of shoppers at Sheikh Saeed Halls 1, 2 and 3, and the arena, checking out the best deals on smartphones, laptops, tablets, wearables and a broad spectrum of the latest consumer electronics.

Taking part were some of the world’s top tech brands, including Asus, Bose, Hisense, HP, Nikon and Samsung, with new product launches planned during the show.
