The UAE’s capital, Abu Dhabi, ordered on Friday the suspension of all events and closure of all nightclubs due to coronavirus, Reuters reported citing a source.
According to a circular from the UAE’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism seen by Al Arabiya English, authorities have instructed establishments to ban all pending events and close down night clubs starting from Friday until the end of March.
The circular said it would update restaurant owners and establishments on a weekly basis.
Dozens more cases of coronavirus have been registered in the Gulf Arab states over the past 24 hours. Saudi Arabia reported 17 additional cases taking its total to 62 as of Friday.
More than 700 cases have been reported to Friday in the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council. No deaths have been announced so far.
Authorities say most of those infected had travelled to Iran, the regional epicenter of the outbreak, or been in contact with returnees.
