Bahrain confirms 49 new coronavirus cases in migrant workers, raising total to 572
Bahrain reported on Sunday 49 new coronavirus cases, all of whom were migrant workers, raising the total number of cases in the country up to 572 cases.
The ministry of health said all precautionary measures were taken for everyone who came into contact with the 49 new cases and they were tested and placed in isolation.

The ministry added that the existing cases among migrant workers were detected as part of the pre-emptive campaigns to examine migrant workers in their homes in a number of Bahraini regions, and it discovered that the workers had not left their residence in adherence to the government’s directives to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Out of the 572 total cases, there are four in critical condition and 568 stable, while the coronavirus death toll stands at six fatalities and the number of recovered patients is 558.
Coronavirus restrictions eased
Bahrain is one of the first countries in the world to ease restrictions, allowing shopping malls and some stores to open as of April 9.
The country was among the first countries in the Arabian Gulf to enforce strict restrictions, including closing all movie theaters, gyms, public swimming pools, and theme parks on March 18.
The restrictions seem to have slowed down the rate of infection, with the number of new cases falling in recent days.
Everyone must wear a mask in public starting from April 9, the Ministry of Health said, adding that violators will be fined 10,000 Bahraini dinars ($26, 518) and could face a three-month jail term.
Gyms, public swimming pools, shisha cafes, beauty parlors, and entertainment parks will be closed until April 23, the health ministry announced.
Supermarkets and food stores must still designate their first opening hour to the elderly and pregnant women to minimize their risk of infection.
Public gatherings over more than five people are also prohibited, and everyone is urged to stay at home unless absolutely necessary, the ministry added.
