A New York doctor filmed the inside of an emergency ward to treat coronavirus patients at Mount Sinai Queens hospital in the United States, where he showed hallways full of patients hooked up to ventilators and said, “all you hear is oxygen.”

The US now has over 577,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus, and the death toll exceeds 23,000. Various hospitals across the country are struggling with the surge in patients and deaths.

“Things are just totally crazy right now. Everyone is COVID-19 positive in these hallways. All you hear is oxygen,” Dr. Erik Blutinger says in the video as he walks around the coronavirus treatment ward in the hospital.

“I’m seeing young patients, old patients, people of all age ranges who are just incredibly sick.”

Blutinger, who is in his first year out of training, adds that he’s never seen the hospital have an empty spot in the critical care bay, but that the staff tries to keep at least one empty space for an incoming emergency.
