Oman reported 689 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 18,887, the Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday.

Omani citizens make 334 of the newly detected cases, while 355 non-Omani expatriates were confirmed to have been infected with COVID-19.
The new cases were confirmed after the health ministry conducted 2,658 tests in the past 24 hours.
One person died of the virus in the last 24 hours, which raises the COVID-19 death toll to 84.

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries in Oman rose to 4,329 after 177 people recovered from the coronavirus.
The health ministry urged all citizens and residents to adhere to precautionary measures to prevent the virus from spreading further.
