Coronavirus: Saudi Arabia confirms 781 COVID-19 cases as daily infections drop

Saudi Arabia confirms 781 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours as daily infections remain below 1,000, the health ministry announced on Tuesday.

Of the new cases, 62 were confirmed in the city of Jeddah, 58 in Mecca and 51 in Medina, according to the health ministry.

The death toll increased to 4,137 after 30 people died due to COVID-19 complications.

Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries climbed to 298,246 after 623 individuals who had previously tested positive for the virus recovered.

The Kingdom has so far confirmed 322,237 positive coronavirus cases as of September 8.

Authorities on Tuesday announced the automatic renewal of expired residency visas of expats stuck abroad due to travel restrictions as a result of the coronavirus pandemic as well as those inside the Kingdom but whose entry/exit visas have expired.

The announcement came just days after Saudia Airlines set coronavirus guidelines and requirements for travelers arriving in the Kingdom amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
