The United Arab Emirates reported 931 new cases of the novel coronavirus – the highest single-day increase in four months – bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 77,842, the Ministry of Health and Prevention announced on Friday.

The new infections were detected after more than 75,000 COVID-19 tests were conducted across the country.
No new deaths were recorded, according to the ministry. The virus-related death toll in the UAE currently stands at 398.
Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries rose to 68,462 after 517 people recovered from the coronavirus.

The latest update comes a day after the government warned that hundreds of people were not following coronavirus countermeasures, such as wearing masks and social distancing around others.
The ministry had urged the public to adhere to preventative measures, adding that it would be continuously evaluating the situation to determine whether restrictions and fines should be tightened.
