Coronavirus: Saudi Arabia detects 474 new COVID-19 cases as daily death toll drops

Saudi Arabia detected 474 new cases of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 340,089, the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday.

Mecca reported 59 new infections, Medina reported 58, Riyadh reported 29, and Jeddah reported only six new infections. The other cases were confirmed in cities and provinces around Saudi Arabia.

The daily COVID-19 death toll in the Kingdom dropped to below 20 for the first time in months. The ministry registered 19 new deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the virus-related death toll in the country to 5,087.

Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries rose to 326,339 after 500 people recovered from the coronavirus, according to the ministry.
