Coronavirus: UAE reports 1,730 COVID-19 cases, four deaths

The United Arab Emirates on Thursday reported 1,730 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of cases to 207,822 in the country, according to the official Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The death toll in the UAE rose by four to 669. The number of recoveries also rose by 1,435 to 184,442.

WAM reported that the country conducted 146,721 COVID-19 tests on Thursday.

The United Arab Emirates will impose restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19 on New Year’s Eve gatherings, the country’s National Crisis and Emergency Authority (NCEMA) confirmed on Thursday.

“Control teams will be activated at the state level to ensure compliance with the approved laws and procedures,” NCEMA said in a statement posted on Twitter.
