The Grand Mosque in Mecca has set a new record for electric power capacity on Monday night, where vast numbers of worshippers have been performing night prayers.

The mosque set a high record of 118 MVA, witnessing an increase of 14% compared to last year's record, the Saudi Press Agency said.

The Saudi Electricity Company has managed to maintain the increase despite the sharp rise in temperatures across all parts of the kingdom.

The company has successfully set a new record during peak load hours at the Grand Mosque.

The central region in Mecca recorded a load of 654MFA, while the western sector registered 15,653 megawatts.

The results reflect the success of the recent projects in Mecca this year, which are worth more than 100 million Saudi Riyals, to enhance electricity and ensure a reliable electricity service during Ramadan for pilgrims.
