Kuwait donates $40 mln to World Health Organization to combat coronavirus

Kuwait donated $40 million to the World Health Organization (WHO) to help combat the spread of the deadly coronavirus, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Khaled al-Jarallah said.

The WHO will distribute the aid to countries who are need of financial support for medical supplies and resources, the deputy minister added.

There have been 130 confirmed cases of the virus in the country as of Tuesday.

Kuwait has been in constant contact with the organization to ensure that health officials in the country are taking the necessary precautions to protect its citizen and residents.

Since the outbreak, schools and universities have been shut and all international flights have been suspended.

The WHO has praised Kuwait for the measures the country has been taking to combat and contain the spread of coronavirus, an official from the organization said during a press conference.
