Social media users in Yemen have confirmed that the internet network and services, specifically Facebook, Twitter, Telegram and Whatsapp are unavailable, and that the only way to access them is through a VPN which is used to hack and remove the blockage.

Sites that support or were created by former slain President Ali Abdullah Saleh’s General People’s Congress Party, more notably “almotamar.net” and “almethaq.net”, have also been blocked by the militia and cannot be accessed from Yemeni grounds without a proxy.

The have also blocked the “khabaragency.net” website which was also supporting Saleh and mainly reported breaking news about the movements of forces loyal to Saleh.

The Houthis have also restricted internet usage and any memberships to it in an attempt to censor and control content coming out of Yemen.
