The condemnation of the political establishment following the deadly blast in Beirut port and the political paralysis in Lebanon came from a far-off pulpit in Australia’s Sydney when a priest ripped into the Lebanese leadership while addressing a congregation of Lebanese faithfuls.

During his Sunday service dedicated to Lebanon at Sydney’s church of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Parish in Sydney the priest urged the Lebanese “to stop affiliating with any of the political parties…”

“Teach your children about Fairuz and Gebran Khalil Gebran ... Don’t teach them about the corrupt political leaders. Don’t teach them about Aoun, Geagea, Gemayel, Frangieh, Mouawad or Chamoun or their silly signs or pathetic colors,” he urged them.

“These are the people who have destroyed the land of Cedars and Saints…they are the embodiment of corruption… and they are the moths that have destroyed the entire fabric of Lebanon and the entire fabric of Lebanese culture,” he added.
