The rape case of Morroco’s Saad Lamjarred was adjourned to Friday the 23rd, a lawyer told Al Arabiya English.

In November, a Brooklyn woman who claimed that Lamjarred allegedly beat and sexually assaulted her during a tourist trip to New York in 2010 has dropped charges, according to a lawyer.

Lawyer Rifaat Harb told Al Arabiya News English in an electronic email "Saad Lamjarred's matter was presented before Supreme Court Judge Michael Gary on December 16th and the Prosecutor relayed to the judge that her office intends to move to dismiss the case officially due to the lack of cooperation from the victim in the case. The case was adjourned to 12/23/16 for an official dismissal once the District Attorney himself signs off on the motion to dismiss. The attorneys in France are awaiting that dismissal to renew their application for bail for Mr. Lamjarred, at which time his bail application will be much easier when there is no extradition request ("detainer" or "hold") hanging over his head."

Lamjarred is facing trial in France for sexual assault after a 20-year-old French woman identified as Laura and works in the fashion industry accused him of rape late in October.

Prior to that, the laywer told Al Arabiya News English “The civil matter I am handling on behalf of my client against Mr. Saad Lamjarred has been finalized. My client has no intention of pursuing the criminal matter.”

“My client has made it clear that she no longer wishes to pursue the criminal matter. Any news about me going to France to seek extradition of Mr. Lamjarred is false.”

“While the final decision remains for the District Attorney's office (prosecution in New York),” he added.
