Costas Mavrides

Since 2014, Costas Mavrides has been a Member of the European Parliament, in the S&D Group, elected with the Democratic Party of Cyprus. He is a full Member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON), of the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee and of the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean. In addition, he is a substitute member of the Committee on International Trade, of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence and of the Delegation for relations with Israel. For the current mandate (2019-2024) he has been elected Chairman of the Political Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (PA-UfM). He also worked in accounting and asset management, at the Cyprus House of Representatives and at the Ministry of Labour in Cyprus. Mavrides hold a Ph.D. in finance from Houston University and has taught finance at universities in the US, Greece and Cyprus.
