Several hotels and buildings were adorned with Christmas trees and lightings.

More than 150 from different nationalities gathered at the National Evangelical Church of Kuwait to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, Al Arabiya News Channel reported.

“I pray to the lord that peace reigns in all nations and that all the problems and disasters around the world come to an end,” one worshipper said.

During the Christmas prayers, Freddy Hanna Saleh, a pastor at the National Evangelical Church expressed his wish that 2014 will be more peaceful and secure than 2013.

Some Christians in Kuwait expressed hope of having more places of worship across the country as their number grows.

One worshiper said that she hopes “the Kuwaiti authorities will help them [Christians] own one big land where Christians from all different nationalities would gather.”

There are an estimated 400,000 Christians in Kuwait, including about 150 Kuwait nationals. Kuwait has a population of 2.7 million, including 1.3 million non-nationals.
