France's prosecution confirmed on Monday that Moroccan star Saad Lamjarred had been re-arrested in France on new rape allegations.

Several reports had said he was arrested in Saint-Tropez, a coastal town in the French Riviera where he was vacationing after returning back from his home country.

Moroccan website Hespress had earlier reported he was arrested after he committed crime related to sexual assault and rape while staying at a hotel.

Lamjarred has been in France for more than a year and a half where he is being tried on rape charges in an ongoing case. He spent time in a Paris jail but was released under parole and allowed to visit Morocco on a few occasions.
