As one of the first fashion bloggers in the UAE, allow me to introduce myself. I am a Chicago-born Syrian, who grew up in Dubai. Having started the first blog in the UAE eight years ago, I am constantly on the go, looking for the best in fashion, beauty, fitness, travel and food. I started myfashdiary.com back when I was studying in the UK at the London College of Fashion. My mom was the face of Nina Ricci in the Middle East and I was exposed to one of the main fashion cities - I felt like I had so much to share with likeminded people. That eventually grew into an online community, where I would share those experiences and inspirations.

Eventually, as I naturally matured, I spent more time researching beauty, travel and discovering great pieces within my beloved city of Dubai and the world. I am so excited about teaming up with Al Arabiya English and sharing what I’ve been up to every month. Feel free to tweet or message me at @myfashdiary if there’s something you’d like to see or hear more of.

Getting back into Fitness

I have been traveling all summer, so as soon as I arrived back in Dubai, I wanted to get back into working on my fitness. As someone who doesn’t eat well and is constantly on a crazy schedule - fitness is very important to me. I change up my workouts quite a bit for two reasons: 1) surprising your muscles is a good thing and using different ones allows you to create lean ones without bulking up and 2) I get bored very easily, and the last thing I want to get bored of doing are my workouts. Fitness wise, I mix up strength training (TRX training), stretches (pole fit and aerial yoga) and sculpting/cardio (barre and reformer Pilates).

Giving back

We all live such busy lives that we forget to sometimes do good for people in our community. A few friends and I decided to dedicate a day or two every month to raise money between ourselves and shop for items to create exciting care packages. This month, we focused on the car cleaners around Dubai. Those men work every day of the week from mornings to evenings under the sun in outdoor car parks. It was so lovely seeing their smiles when we handed out the care packages, which included pillows, snacks and toiletries, as well as other treats. I encourage everyone to take time out of their schedule to do some good for the community.

Coloring my hair purple

After getting bored with my ombre, I decided to go to a smokey lavender shade, which eventually I ended up darkening into a bright hot purple. I’m quite a beauty junkie when it comes to treatments, but color is one I don’t play around with, after a bad experience, I only trust two people with coloring my hair. Rachael at Slam Salon in Al Quoz for ombre and Simona at Slam for bright shades.

Travelling to Izmir, Turkey

I love traveling, and one of the best things about my job is being able to travel and experiencing new countries and cities. I recently flew out to the Turkish Coast - to Izmir - it was my first time in the country. A change from the popular cities of Istanbul and Bodrum… if you’re visiting, make sure to visit Alacati (which - when we got there -felt like we were in Greece) and Ephesus for breathtaking history.
