Egyptians are saluting on social media in solidarity with the police force

Many of the youth and the prominent figures in Egypt also published photos while saluting as a show of support for the country’s police force.

Social media platforms in Egypt have been filled with a hashtag that was launched by actor Asser Yassin in solidarity with the police officers who were recently killed in a deadly terror attack that took place last Friday in the Western Desert that left 18 policemen dead.

A number of artists interacted with the military salute campaign, including actors Bayoumi Fouad and Tariq Sabry, who published photos of themselves on their personal accounts on Facebook saluting the victims.

“Salute them wherever you are, they died to secure your safety,” Sabry wrote.

Many of the youth and the prominent figures in Egypt also published photos while saluting as a show of support for the country’s police force.

Egypt’s Interior Ministry said in a statement on Saturday that 17 policemen and 15 terrorist elements were killed during fierce clashes between Egyptian security forces and terrorists in the Western Desert on Friday.
