Al Arabiya reporter becomes father on same anniversary of shooting attempt

Jawad Kadhim told the doctor that he “faced an assassination attempt. I was closer to death than life. Now, after all these years my son is born on the same day and month.” (Al Arabiya)

An Al Arabiya News Channel correspondent has become a farther for the first time on Saturday, the day coinciding for the 11th anniversary of a shooting attempt that made him paralyzed during his time in Iraq.

Jawad Kadhim told his wife’s doctor that on June 18 in 2005, he “faced an assassination attempt. I was closer to death than life. Now, after all these years my son is born on the same day and month.”

Kadhim named his name Kareem, which means generous in Arabic.

During his duty as an Al Arabiya correspondent in Baghdad in 2005, Kadhim was shot in his spinal chord, which left him paralyzed since the unfortunate incident.
