Lebanon’s Information Minister Melhem Riachi said that a subsidy plan was being drafted by his ministry in order to support the ailing media outlets of the country.

Financial difficulties and the country’s economic circumstances lead some of the top media agencies in the country to either shut down or announce major cuts, Riachi told Lebanese radio station Radio VDL.

Lebanon’s An-Nahar newspaper announced major cuts to staff and budget in the final weeks of December, while As-Safir newspaper shut its printing presses for good.
