BBC team tear-gassed by Turkish police on Syria border

Turkish police fired tear gas at a team of BBC journalists near the Syrian city of Kobane, the broadcasting company reported Monday.

Two canisters were fires at the team, which was filming tension along the Turkish-Syrian border.

One of the projectiles hit the team’s car, filling it with gas.

ISIS began its advance on Kobane, Syria's third largest Kurdish town, on Sept. 16, seeking to cement its grip over a long stretch of the Syrian-Turkish border.

The fighting around the town, known in Arabic as Ain al-Arab, has prompted a mass exodus of residents from the area, with some 186,000 fleeing across the border into Turkey.
