Ayman Mohyeldin named Esquire Magazine’s journalist of the year

American-Egyptian journalist on Thursday Ayman Mohyeldin won Esquire Magazine’s Journalist of the Year award.

The journalist, who couldn’t receive the reward himself, said he was “honored and humbled to have won Esquire Magazine’s Journalist of the Year.”

“Couldn’t have done it without amazing producers and cameramen along the way,” he added on his Instagram account.

“I am sorry I couldn’t be there to pick it up,” Mohyeldin said.

In 2001, Mohyeldin was named among the 100 most influential people of the year by Time magazine.

Mohyeldin, is a correspondent for U.S.-based news channel NBC, worked for different media outlets including CNN and Fox News.

Over the past decade, the veteran journalist has reported on crises including Libya’s nuclear-research program, the Iraq War, the terrorist bombings at a Jordanian hotel and more recently the Egyptian revolution.
