Shorter trading hours for exchanges in Ramadan

Stock exchanges in Kuwait, Bahrain and Egypt have announced shorter trading hours during Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting which begins this week, while other Gulf bourses are expected to maintain their usual hours.

Kuwait trading timings will be changed to 6.40am GMT to 8.45am GMT and Egypt’s bourse will trade from 8.30am GMT until 11.30am GMT, according to respective exchange statements.

Bahrain trading timings will be between 7.30am GMT and 9.30am GMT, a statement said.

Exchanges in Qatar and Saudi Arabia have said normal trading hours will extend into Ramadan.

UAE and Oman markets are also expected to trade during regular hours, although no official announcements have yet been made.
