The American team has set a new world record in the two-way Canopy Formation during the Dubai International Parachuting Championship being held in the UAE emirate, a local newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Chris Gay, Brian Pangburn and Yiliya Pangburn set the new record of 45 points, surpassing France’s 36 points, Gulf News reports.

In the Canopy Formation category, the three-member teams include two jumpers, who have to perform various mid-air formations while the third one, who is a videographer, has to record the moves.

The teams have to complete their moves and formations in a working time of one minute. Their recordings are later viewed by a jury.

Meanwhile, the UAE continued its ranking at the top of the standings in the 8-way Formation Skydiving and the 4-way Vertical Formation Skydiving after six days of the competition.
