The Italian league has confirmed that the Supercup between Juventus and Napoli will be played in Doha, Qatar on Dec. 22.
Lega Serie A President Maurizio Beretta said Monday: “We are grateful for the opportunity to bring our Supercup ... to an interesting and prestigious country such as Qatar.”
The match is played between the reigning Italian champion - currently Juventus - and the Italian Cup winner.
This will be the seventh time that the Supercup has been played abroad. It was held in Washington, D.C., in 1993, in Tripoli, Libya in 2002, New Jersey in 2003 and Beijing on three occasions - 2009, 2011 and 2012.
Juventus, which has won the past two editions, has the joint record number of victories. AC Milan has also won it six times.
Napoli has only won it once, in 1990.
