Palestinian basketball player Omar Krayem said Sunday that there is a “very high” chance that he will play for his national team in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship, Philippines-based website Inquirer reported.

“It’s a very high possibility. But I need to go home and get some downtime,” Krayem, who is currently playing for the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), said.

“I’ve been playing since August 1st … So I’m about to get some rest, talk to the national team and see what the plan is and hopefully I make it there in September,” he added.

The Palestinian basketball team is set to see action in the FIBA Asia Championship for the first time this year.

The team qualified for the competition after it finished third behind Lebanon and Jordan in the West Asian club championship for basketball (WABA).

It is part of Group B along with the Philippines, Kuwait and the East Asian champion, which could either be Mongolia or Hong Kong.

The winner of the tournament will clinch a ticket to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The FIBA Asia Championship, staged every two years, will take place from September 23- October 3.
