FIFA has announced the official dates for the 2022 World Cup finals due to take place in the small Gulf state of Qatar.

According to U.S. sports channel ESPN, the tournament is expected to begin on November 21st and end on December 18th.

The dates of the competition were amended after concerns regarding to the high temperatures in the small peninsula.

Meanwhile, FIFA’s vice-president Jim Boyce – speaking days after Swiss authorities announced the opening of a criminal case against FIFA chief Sepp Blatter - said the changes are not likely to disrupt domestic leagues.

“I think it could be a tremendous World Cup because I think players will be fresher than they have ever been,” Boyce said.

"It's going to be 28 days, it's not a lifetime. It means [domestic leagues] starting three weeks earlier and finishing three weeks later for one year,” he added.
