All it takes is one night to change lives. This was the theme set in a star studded fund raiser gala organized by the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) Wednesday, which successfully raised one million dollars for the children affected and displaced by the on-going conflict in Syria.

International stars Mark Ruffalo, Rooney Mara and Naomie Harris led the red carpet walk of the “One Night to Change Lives” charity event in Dubai to show their support.

The main highlight of the night was the charity auction that featured exclusive experiences and prized collectibles that included the James Bond memorabilia from Bond films throughout the years, exclusive tickets to the world premiere of the next Bond film, and a one of a kind James Bond themed Aston Martin Vanquish.

The charity auction was held under the patronage of U.N. Messenger of Peace HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai.

Another highlight of the auction was a pair of tickets to the world premiere of the movie “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” donated by Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson.

“Scarlett has donated this incredible prize because she has travelled with Oxfam and met refugees from other crises herself and always supports this event,” said Oxfam Global Ambassador Mark Ruffalo.

All proceeds will go directly to charity and humanitarian organizations Dubai Cares and Oxfam to help the displaced Syrian children and their families who are in dire need of basic supplies, shelter, food assistance, water, hygiene facilities, winter clothing and children’s education kits.

Spotted at the event were other celebrities like actresses Lindiwe Matshikiza and Maryam D’Abo.

DJ and Bond actor Goldie, as well as Bollywood stars Arjun Rampal and Rahul Bose, an Oxfam Global Ambassador, were also present.
