A U.S.-based civil rights group has created a smartphone app to help Arab Americans report on discrimination, ethnic harassment and other forms of bigotry, local media reported Wednesday.

The Civil Rights Action App was launched by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) this week in commemoration of the 50th anniversary passage of the Civil rights Act of 1964, Click on Detroit website reported. “This app is truly unique among civil rights organizations,” Attorney Fatina Abdrabboh, director of ADC-Michigan said on ADC’s Facebook page.

Abdrabboh said the app is about empowerment and including individuals and mobilizing civil rights advocacy in communities.

She added: “The best thing about this app is that all you need is a phone to mobilize civil rights advocacy in your community, no matter your proximity to our offices.”

The app allows users to share news stories and ADC alerts.
