Riyadh-based King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) customs authorities have succeeded in thwarting a bid to smuggle nearly 943 grams of heroin hidden in capsules inside a passenger's stomach.

Director General of KKIA's Customs Sultan al-Faheed told the Saudi Press Agency that a passenger on a flight landing in the kingdom’s capital was suspected by customs officers and was subjected to self-inspection.

A closer examination of the passenger’s intestines confirmed the test to be positive showing he was hiding 120 capsules all containing 943 grams of heroin.

Legal procedures have been taken against the smuggler.
