Disgruntled women in Egypt took to the social media to vent frustration from a billboard of “Are you spinster?!” a campaign designed to empower women.

Irked activists claimed that “spinster” is a repulsive definition disparages women’s stature, asserting it’s a stymie solely created as a result of economic and social trends.

Nahid abu al-Khoumsan, head of “Egyptian Center for Women’s Rights” said: “there are excellent human and social aspects of the campaign, but not its advertisement which is far from human rights.”

“It institutes racism (sexism) culture, which the campaign is against.”

She concluded: “organizers of the campaign should remove the offensive billboard and choose pertinent mottos to achieve its goals.”
