Localingual, a cloud-based system, is a website that offers visitors a unique and fun experience to listen and record the different dialects and languages of people from around the world.

David Ding, a former Microsoft Software engineer, created Localingual to shed light on the wide range of dialects, and to highlight the globe’s linguistic diversity.

Its method: An interactive world map, where you can select a region or zoom in on it, and listen to the dialects and voices that have been uploaded on it.

The site also offers users the option to record their voices in the language they want, and upload it on the website.

Ding hopes that Localingual go on to become a “Wikipedia” of the different languages and dialects across the world.
