A Saudi Twitter user has encouraged around 80 companies to donate hundreds of products to cleaners in the kingdom, Arabic media reported this week.

AbdelAziz al-Qahtani (@Mr_Abdul3ziz), who has over 36,000 followers on Twitter, ushered them towards a good cause. He directed a tweet to a popular food chain famous for their sandwiches asking them about the number of retweets that would satisfy them in order to get a hundred free sandwiches to offer the cleaners.

The tweet generated thousands of shares.

In response, the restaurant tweeted “Hi Abdelaziz, we are partners in charity, no need to retweet for the 100 shawarma sandwiches!”

The restaurant’s tweet received an uproar of positive reactions among followers as well as further donations from other companies.

A telecom company offered 100 free top-up cards, while other international companies offered 100 free meals.

A water company offered to supply Abdelaziz with enough water for the cause.

The support also took on different forms, as some companies offered media campaigns to produce videos on the initiative and media exposure.
