Cheats will feel the heat! Egypt says exam violators could get ‘jail terms’

Egypt’s education ministry has announced on Monday new penalties for cheating and other violations during nationwide school exams that could lead to jail terms, state news agency Ahram Online reported.

The new amendments to the laws came after reports of repeated incidents of leaking exam answers over the past year.

Approved by President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi last week, Tte new amendments will aim to stop all violations during exams and firmly control the examination process across Egyptian schools, according to a statement released by the ministry.

Those found guilty of sharing exam questions and answers could be punish with two to seven years in jail and fined from $5,000 to $11,000.
