VIDEO: Car chase shows Egyptian family running after kidnappers of Syrian man

A video capturing a Hollywood-like car chase as an Egyptian family attempted to save a young Syrian man from his masked kidnappers has gone viral on social media.

The incident reportedly took place earlier this week at Cairo’s Nasr City when an Egyptian woman and her family riding their own car noticed masked men in a nearby vehicle and “glimpsed someone kicking in the back seat”.

The woman, Yara Alaadinne, said in a Facebook post that the person they saw seemed in need of help.

“I started shouting to call peoples’ attention and my father began chasing the car in a bid to stop them” she said. “Many young men began chasing them too.”

The courageous family managed to stop the kidnappers and save the abducted person, who turned out to be a Syrian resident in his early 20s.

“Despite what happened to me and my father and the damages that happened to our car, we stayed there until police arrived and made sure the man was okay,” she added.

Footage of the car chase garnered more than one million views on Facebook and the family received praise from social media users over the braveness and determination to save the Syrian man.
