An Egyptian school awarded a high-performing student in Grade 5 a towel, sparking outrage over the school's strange choice of present.

Mo’men, a student at the Public Taha Hussein School for Languages in the Suez Governorate, received the personalized towel - that carries name and slogan of the city - after a teaching supervisor randomly picked him from among students who excelled in their mid-terms.

A photo of Mo’men receiving the "award" was shared on social media, sparking outrage as many demanded that the school be investigated over the “shameful” incident, while others said they were willing to donate money to buy "actual awards" for the students.
